Belonging to a family of actors and artistes, is Salman Khan popularly referred to as one of the three Khans, Shahrukh, Aamir and Salman. Born on 27 Dec 1965, to Salim Khan, songs and script-writer and Salma Khan, Salman first made his debut in a supporting role in Biwi Ho to Aisi. He was cast with Farouque Sheik and Rekha. A good beginning indeed. Though the movie failed to make an impact, Salman was recognized and was cast in Sooraj Barjatya's, Blockbuster Maine Pyar Kiya. This proved to be the 'spring board' of his career. It set new records and made Salman a star overnight. Instantly he was the guy next door.His trademark? Shirtless showing those bulging muscles. He first took off his shirt for the song o o Jaane jaana, in Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, opposite Kajol. Then it seemed to be all over the place and became synonymous with Salman Khan.Like the norms of the industry, Salman has had his share of success and failures. He was arrested and jailed for poaching endangered wild animals after allegedly shooting a rare black antelope near Jodhpur in 1998. He was also arrested for culpable homicide when involved in an incident in which several homeless people were hit by a car in North Bombay. He was involved with Aishwarya Rai, which ended in a brawl. He is supposedly said to have threatened Vivek Oberoi with dire consequences, if he failed to stay away from his former ladylove, Aishwarya. Nonetheless he has been tight lipped and has moved ahead making good movies. His fan club ever increasing.
